
It’s early, but the No. 4 in Class 3A Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team looks to be in mid-season form after sweeping three matches against ranked opponents at Thursday’s Mount Vernon quad.
Mid-Prairie took down No. 12 in Class 4A Bondurant-Farrar 15-25, 25-14 and 15-13, last year’s state runner-up in 4A No. 3 Pella 25-18 and 25-19 and last year’s 3A state champ, the home No. 8 Mustangs 25-21, 12-25 and 15-9. Stat leaders on the night included Avery Helmuth with 38 assists, Jovi Evans with 30. In the kill column Evans led with 26, followed by Harper Pacha’s 18 and a dozen each for Katelyn Harland and Jeorgia Evans. Defensively, Jeorgia Evan’s 47 digs led, Jovi Evans finished with 31 and Elise Foster 30. Laurin Fay blocked six at the net and Jeorgia Evans finished with six aces from the service line.
The Hawks are now 3-0 on the year and will travel to the Central Lee tournament Saturday.
