Two construction projects will begin on Highway 22 next week, slowing down commutes for drivers in northern Washington County.
On Tuesday, September 2, crews will begin construction on Highway 22 in downtown Riverside, stretching from Knisel Street to East Street. Work will take place on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will cause intermittent lane closures. The project is expected to be completed on September 30.
The second project will begin that same day stretching approximately two miles west of Kalona and two miles east of Wellman, reaching from 120th Street to the English River bridge. Work will take place on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will cause intermittent lane closures. Flaggers and a pilot car will be used to direct traffic. The second project is expected to be finished on September 16.
Drivers are reminded to be cautious in work zones.
