Construction has begun on Mid-Prairie’s new wrestling facility, and work is on track to be completed by March.
The foundation has been completed and work is now beginning on the second story of the facility. It is being built into the side of the hill overlooking Mid-Prairie’s football field. The construction will cause parking changes throughout the fall, including during home football games. Parking at the top of the hill behind the school will be reserved for handicap parking only during football games, all other drivers will need to park in the high school’s main parking lot. Buses will be moved to create additional parking for high school students and staff during the day.
The 12,960 square foot facility will cost the district $5.59 million, including $3.85 million in construction costs. The remainder of the budget will go towards contingencies and architectural fees. The project is being funded through general obligation bond funding. Once completed, the facility will house three wrestling mats, a weight room, locker rooms, several restrooms, storage area and concession stands.
