
Keokuk County 4-H Members took home 71 awards at the Iowa State Fair earlier this month, including three first-place livestock placements.
Izzy Heisdorffer won her division in the speckled-face commercial ewe and market sheep categories, while Ty Heisdorffer won the Pedigree Wether Dam – Dorset Advantage division and took the championship in the Pedigree Wether Dam category. Izzy also won fourth place overall for her ewe. Both Izzy and Ty also took one other top-three placement throughout the week, with Izzy winning second in Market Meat Goat Wethers and Ty winning third in Black Face Commercial Ewes.
Colt Reed also won three top three placements, taking third in landrace breeding swine and crossbred barrows market swine while earning second place in commercial gilt breeding swine.
In total, 4-Hers across Keokuk County won 33 blue ribbons, 16 purple ribbons, 10 red ribbons and one white ribbon.
