The Washington City Council approved an agreement with Bolten and Menk to complete a Parks Master Plan.
On Tuesday, the Council heard from City Administrator Joe Gaa on the process for this agreement, “Yes, there was $100,000 in the Park budget for a Parks Master Plan. As soon as we got into July we put out a request for proposals, we received three. The committee got together and reviewed them, and after narrowing it down a little bit and asking some follow-up questions, the recommendation is to hire Bolten and Menk at a cost of $50,000 to complete this plan.”
The scope of the work will include, creating a guiding document for future development and re-development over the next 10-20 years. They will collect and analyze data to develop a clear set of goals, policies, and standards for the community’s park system, green spaces, trails, and recreation facilities. They will work closely with city staff, community members and stakeholders, the Parks Advisory Board, and City Council in preparing the plan. The final plan will include a comprehensive inventory, analysis of needs, and implementation strategies.
