The next step in the streetscape project for the downtown Washington district was approved by the Washington City Council. 

City Administrator Joe Gaa gave more information on the project, “There are six blocks that in July we brought you a list of sidewalks that we looked at. There’s not enough money to redo them all, but this is kind of a phase to keep us moving along. So you approved that. We went back working with Strand (Associates) to come up with an agreement. This agreement will go through a design, engineering, bidding, construction oversight, so this will get us through the process. We’ll still have to see how the bids come in, and what moves forward.” 

The project will include both sides of the 100 block of N. Marion, East side of the 200 block of S. Marion, East side of the 200 block of N. Iowa, East side of the 200 block of S. Iowa, and the West side of the 200 block of W. Washington. The contract with Strand Associates is in the amount of $293,600.
