
Local student athletes from Washington, Mid-Prairie and Highland put in hard work this spring on the track and in the classroom, earning Academic All-State honors from the Iowa Association of Track Coaches.
Washington’s Lauren Horak was IATC Academic All-State in Class 3A. She represented the Demons on the blue oval in Des Moines as part of the 4×400 and 4×800 relays.
Mid-Prairie’s Jayse Yoder and Preston Yutzy were both 2A Academic All-State. Yutzy ran the two-mile for the Hawks at Drake Stadium while Yoder was part of the state sprint medley.
Highland’s Lilly Barre was a 1A Academic All-State selection. She ran as a member of the Huskies 4×100 and 4×200 teams.
To be named IATC Academic All-State, an athlete must be a senior, hold a GPA of 3.80 or higher and qualify for the state meet in at least one event.
