Saturday, the Sigourney-Keota Cobra football team will get their first live action of the year in a three team scrimmage when they host Davis County and the Fairfield Trojans.

Quarterback Voss Richardson returns after a 41 of 106 season passing with 493 yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions. His leading receiver Ethan Bisgard also returns after a sophomore season with 262 yards on 22 catches and a pair of touchdowns. On the ground a year ago, the Trojans were led by the duo of Luke Konczal and Zandrik Allison with a combined 249 carries, 1,555 yards and 16 touchdowns. Allison is back with 143 rushes, 765 yards and eight scores. Defensively, Konczal was the leader with more than 100 tackles last year, Bisgard’s 30 are the best returning with Calvin McLain’s five for loss the best in that category.

This week, Cobra head coach Jared Jensen joined the KCII Football Roundtable Show to talk about what he wants to see from his team in the scrimmage.

Jensen said, “They passed things now so you can have multiple teams. We still have Davis County like the last few years and now we’ve added Fairfield to the mix. We want this thing to be fast, we want it to be fun, we want people to be excited. We are going to be firing new teams back and forth and get it up tempo so it feels like a game. We’ll see the good, the bad and the ugly, you always do. Come out uninjured, learn from your mistakes, and come out of it being a better team with a chance to fix those mistakes before week one.”

Action starts at 9a.m. Saturday at Sigourney High School.
