Water levels have returned to normal at Lake Darling following July’s heavy rainstorms, and fishing conditions remain fair at the lake.
Water currently has poor visibility at around a foot of depth according to the Iowa Department of Natural Resource.
Anglers looking for crappies have reportedly had the best luck in the middle of the lake and over the large brushpile south of the dam. Bluegills have moved back to rockpiles along the shoreline. They are feeding at the surface in the morning and retreating to deeper waters as the sun rises.
Beach swimming is still not recommended at Lake Darling and will remain unadvised through Labor Day due to E.Coli levels.
