The Washington School Board has set its legislative priorities for the year that they will share with the Iowa Association of School Boards.

Each year they select the top five priorities they would like to see action on at the state level.

Board member Mindi Rees made the motion after the members went through their selections, “I make a motion to approve the legislative priorities for fiscal year 25-26 as selected by the board which are: student achievement, teacher professional development and retention, SSA (supplemental state aid), school funding policy, and school safety.”

In November a member of the school board will attend the Iowa Association of School Boards Convention and Delegation assembly to discuss the legislative priorities and other issues that are facing school districts throughout the state.
