
An attached garage caught fire in Washington Wednesday. According to local officials, the fire began just after 1:30 p.m., a fire was observed in an attached garage in the 1200 block of North Fourth Avenue in Washington.
As KCII reported from the scene, smoke could be seen coming from the roof as authorities arrived.
According to Washington Fire Chief Brendan DeLong, the fire was started by a lawnmower that caught fire outside next to the residence. There were no injuries, but the structure sustained significant damage.
Local responding agencies included Washington Fire Department, Kalona Fire Department, Ainsworth Fire Department, Washington Police, Washington Rescue, and Washington County Ambulance.
