With new staff in the building and the first day of school 10 days away, Mid-Prairie Community School District’s preparation for the 2025-2026 school year is in full swing. Parents and students will get their first taste of the new year with several back-to-school events across the district.

On August 18, 6th graders and students new to the middle school will be able to attend an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. This event is open to students only. All other back-to-school events are open to both students and families.

On August 19, high school freshmen will participate in 9th grade orientation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Freshmen will meet their seminar advisor, talk to their teachers and get a first look at their high school schedules, while their families will be able to ask questions to staff.

That same evening, the district will host an open house for students attending the alternative learning center from 6 to 7 p.m., where students will be able to meet ALC teacher Jenny Hobbs.

On August 20, students in the Home School Assistance Program are invited to an ice cream social from 1 to 3 p.m. at the home school education center. Also on the 20th, the middle school will host 5th grade orientation from 2 to 6 p.m.

The week’s events will come to a close on August 21 with back-to-school night at East and West elementaries from 3 to 6 p.m.
