Jordan Proctor

A Cedar Rapids man was arrested for impersonating a federal agent in Washington County, after doing the same in Linn County multiple times, including at an airport.

The Iowa State Patrol transported 34-year-old Jordan Proctor to the Washington County Jail on August 7th. According to court documents, Proctor had a warrant for failure to appear on the original charge of four counts of impersonating a public official, all aggravated misdemeanors.

On June 21st, at 10:27 p.m. Proctor told Riverside Casino and Golf Resort staff that he was a State Fire Marshall Agent and needed to speak with other staff regarding the hotel’s fire sprinkler system. At 10:31 p.m. Proctor told the Casino security supervisor that he was a Federal Investigator, and was conducting a hotel audit to make sure the casino did not have too much cash on hand. And then five minutes later, Proctor told casino security staff that he was an agent subcontracted by the State Fire Marshal’s office and then advised he was a Secret Service Agent. He then left the premises.

On June 23rd, Proctor told an employee with Continental Fire Sprinkler Company that was at the Riverside Casino that he was with the State Fire Marshal’s office, a branch of the Secret Service. The employee contacted the Chicago, Illinois, field office of the U.S. Secret Service and a special agent confirmed that Proctor did not work for their agency.

And previously on May 11th, Proctor was arrested in Linn County after causing approximately 100 people to evacuate a Walmart when he pulled a fire alarm. He was arrested for disorderly conduct and initiating a false report, simple misdemeanors. The Cedar Rapids Police responded to the store after Proctor had allegedly pulled a fire alarm while shopping. Proctor reportedly claimed he was doing it as a training exercise.

More recently July 10th, Proctor was charged with false reports to a public safety entity and interference with official acts, simple misdemeanors. According to court documents,  a law enforcement officer working for the Eastern Iowa Airport Police in Cedar Rapids reported Proctor had obstructed or hindered the execution of his official duties by refusing to identify himself during an investigation. Proctor falsely claimed he was working for the Secret Service. He was asked to leave the premises and refused to do so, and was charged with trespassing.

A preliminary hearing has been set in Washington County for August 18th.
