Local student-athletes officially kick off their new sports seasons Monday. Following summer workouts, dead-week and camps, the first officially sanctioned day of practice for Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union fall sports is Monday, August 11th. Football, volleyball and cross country teams for the Washington Demons, Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks, Hillcrest Academy Ravens, Highland Huskies, Lone Tree Lions, Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves, WACO Warriors, Keota Eagles and Sigourney Savages will all take the first step Monday.
The first official competition dates are August 22nd for football, and August 25th for cross country and volleyball. KCII is the one to count on for live coverage of today’s local sports.
