
On Wednesday the Washington Police Department were checking on a wanted subject and subsequently arrested 51-year-old Terry Delay of Washington on felony burglary and criminal mischief charges. According to court records, Delay had a warrant for fifth degree theft, and a second warrant for second degree criminal mischief and third degree burglary, all class D felonies.
Records state, on July 13th, officers were dispatched to the 1000th block South 11th Avenue in Washington regarding an alleged burglary at a home which was under construction. Upon arrival, officers were advised that someone had entered the home, cut electrical wiring from the walls and then left the residence. The total value of the missing wiring was approximately $50. The total damage done inside the house was estimated at $3,000. Officers located the vehicle involved in the incident and made contact with its owner, identified as Delay. Delay was in possession of the missing wire, and stated that he had driven by the residence, noticed the wire laying in the garage, and believed it was for the dumpster that was left outside. He took the wire. In addition, he admitted to entering the residence, but denied being the individual who cut the wire from the walls.
A preliminary hearing has been set for August 8th.
