
Flood warnings have been issued for the English and North Skunk Rivers in eastern Iowa.
The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has a flood warning in effect for the English River at Kalona now through Sunday afternoon with major flooding forecast. The flood stage there is 14 feet and the river is expected to crest at 18.4 feet, and fall below flood stage on Sunday morning. At 18 feet, water has gone over roads causing closures previously. Water can impact 130th Street, Kiwi Avenue, Orange Avenue, Poplar Avenue, and extensive agricultural land near the river.
Minor flooding is forecast for the North Skunk River near Sigourney with a flood warning in effect through Sunday morning. On Thursday morning water had reached 17.8 feet and flood stage there is 16 feet. The water mainly affects agricultural land with some county roads and farm houses.
