The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has opened registration for fall hunter education courses.
The hunter education program is designed to teach prospective hunters about firearm safety and other crucial skills in the outdoors.
The courses are required for any Iowans born in or after 1972 in order to hunt. Students below the age of 18 must complete at least part of their course in-person with a field day, while students 18 and older can complete the process entirely online. In-person courses are available in the KCII listening area including in Washington, Kalona, Wapello, Sigourney, Parnell, and Salem, with dates as early as August 9 and as late as September 27.
