A southeast Iowa man has been sentenced to 37 years in federal prison for conspiring to sexually exploit a child. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa, 30-year old Benjamin Paul Egli of Tiffin was sentenced after pleading guilty to conspiracy to sexually exploit a child and possession of child pornography.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office stated that evidence at sentencing showed that in 2023 on multiple occasions Egli participated in video calls and Snapchat messaging with a woman who lived in another state, during which Egli recorded and directed the woman to engage in sexually explicit conduct with her toddler. Egli possessed hundreds of images of child pornography.

In addition to 37 years in prison, he was ordered to pay $6,000 in restitution and five years of supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.
