The Highland Huskies had another solid baseball season, finishing second in the North division of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference for a second straight year and ending a skid of back-to-back losing seasons. Now, seven of their top players have received all-conference honors. That includes three unanimous first-team selections.

Senior outfielder Logan McFarland gets the nod after collecting a .353 batting average to go with team highs of 24 hits, 24 runs scored and 27 stolen bases, while sophomore infielder Landon Roling was tied for the team high in hits on his way to first-team honors and led the team with a .375 average while also racking up 13 runs batted in and 11 steals.

Bryce Hazelett rounds out Highland’s first-team choices as a utility player. In addition to picking up a team-high 15 RBI at the plate and stealing 10 bases, Hazelett was a superb pitcher, allowing a 3.28 earned-run average and rolling up 23 strikeouts in 32 innings of work.

Senior William Dunbar is a unanimous selection as a second-team infielder after batting .267 with 15 runs scored and 16 steals. Senior Colten Sypherd also makes the second team as a utility player, hitting .244 with 11 stolen bases and yielding just a 2.04 ERA in 24 innings on the mound and posting 28 strikeouts.

Honorable mentions go to senior Ryker Miller and freshman Caleb Wheeler, who were key pieces in the Huskies’ journey to a 12-10 overall record and an 8-4 mark in conference play.
