Four groups will represent Washington County at the Iowa State Fair for their working exhibits.
Participants enjoyed “making and taking” during the Working Exhibits on Tuesday, July 15, at the Washington County Fair. A crowd flocked to the hands-on presentations during the late afternoon and left with some homemade items and facts.
Nine groups of 4-H’ers participated in the Working Exhibits, ranging in activities from how to make on the go tic-tac-toe, to folding origami, to skewering fruit kabobs. This project area falls under the communication division which is known for teaching youth how to demonstrate, give directions to an audience, and interact with an audience to produce a take-home product.
Ymbrace and Celine Yudelmo earned the Judge’s Choice trophy for their paper to swan exhibit. The following projects will represent Washington County at the Iowa State Fair, Grace, Elijah, Sophia, and Jenna Puttmann with “Rice Buddies;” Bristol Kucera, Annabelle Pieffer, and Madilyn Stumpf with “Kindness Klipz;” Calvin Meller and Kiera Stanerson with “Castle Crashers;” and Eleanor Van Omen, Tori Marsengill, and Amelia Meller with “Crazy Maze.”
