The Keota Eagles has their best softball season in nearly 20 years, winning more games than the previous 10 seasons combined, and four players who helped lead the way have earned all-conference honors in the South Iowa Cedar League.
That includes eighth-grader Jessalyn Aller, who is a second-team selection at pitcher after a brilliant debut season. Aller had a 3.19 earned-run average and collected 146 strikeouts in 123 innings in the circle, but she was also a force at the plate for Keota with a .370 batting average, seven doubles, four triples, three home runs and 23 runs batted in.
Freshman Elyse Lyle also receives second-team accolades as an infielder after hitting .339 with six doubles, three homers and 23 runs scored. Honorable mentions go to senior Lainey Swanson and freshman Cameron Haifley, who helped the Eagles go 11-9 for their first winning season since at least 2008.
