The PLANT Washington Community Orchard and Garden will be hosting a field day titled, Cultivating Pollinators and Produce: Establishing Beneficial Insect Habitat + Local Food in a Community Garden this Saturday.

This day is in partnership with Xerces Society, an international nonprofit organization for invertebrate conservation that protects the natural world through the conservation of invertebrates and their habitats.

The field day will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, and will feature Kerrie Willis, a volunteer of PLANT Washington, and Xerces Society’s Sarah Nizzi as they share how beneficial insects help urban gardens with a presentation of their pollinator garden. Willis will also share how PLANT Washington started, connected with collaborators, and built community along the way. Lunch will be provided after the presentation.

Interested participants can register for this field day with the link with this news story at KCIIRadio.com

The PLANT Washington community garden is located at 803 South Avenue D.
