Kalona residents and visitors will be able to participate in specialty barn tours throughout the month of August.

Kalona Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tonia Poole describes the tours, “The tours stop at family farms that have been in the family for, some of them are century farms, which is 100 years, and some of them are heritage farms, which is 150 years. The barns on those farms, some of them are from the early 1900s and some are from the late 1800s. You get to actually go into three of the barns and hear from the family how they originated, what the barn was used for and how it’s changed over the years.”

The tours are every Wednesday and Saturday in August from 1 to 3 p.m. Cost is $30 for adults, $15 for youth, and free for children ages six and under. For more information or to RSVP, contact the Kalona Chamber of Commerce at (319) 656-2660.
