
A trial date has been scheduled for a Columbus Junction man charged with the felony count of abuse of a corpse to hide a crime. According to court documents, 58-year old Salvador Castaneda has plead not guilty. A jury trial has been scheduled for September 30th in Louisa County.
On June 26th officials arrested Castaneda after the body of Noe Ibarra-Tijerina was discovered. Authorities had been notified of a van stuck in a ditch on a gravel road near Columbus Junction and while on scene, the body of the deceased was located in a ditch nearby with a black cord around his torso. His body had extensive injuries. According to court records, authorities stated they found a similar cord hanging from the van. A blood trail was also discovered.Castaneda was located with the keys to the van in his pocket.
Court documents indicate multiple search warrants have been executed related to Castaneda in the last week.
