A Parnell man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run incident in Linn County that happened in May.

According to court records, Terry Lee Wertz was arrested following the release of an arrest warrant on July 17 on charges of Homicide By Vehicle – Reckless Driving, a class C felony, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting In Death, a class D felony.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says that William Leroy Tomson of La Vista, Nebraska was killed in the crash on May 27 when Wertz hit him while trying to pass in a no-passing zone.

Wertz’s initial hearing was on July 21, when he was released on a $35,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 31.
