After another season on the diamond, Winfield-Mount Union/Columbus baseball comes away with seven selections for All-North division honors in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference.
Leading the way is junior Trevor Phillips, who is a unanimous first-team choice as a utility player. Phillips was at his best for the Wolves as a pitcher, allowing a team-low 2.62 earned-run average and racking up 38 strikeouts in just under 27 innings on the mound.
Senior Riley Kaalberg is the other first-team honoree after leading WMU/Columbus with 23 total hits, six doubles, three home runs and 16 runs batted in. Junior Tyson Kaalberg is a unanimous second-team selection after collecting a team-high .388 batting average and collecting 10 stolen bases.
Kohlby Newsom also makes the second team for the Wolves, rolling up a team-high 14 steals and 14 runs scored while batting .339, while fellow senior Lane Genkinger earns second-team accolades for hitting .345 and scoring 13 times.
Honorable mentions go to juniors Kason Dopler and Jaxton Jones, who both had batting averages of .277 or better for a Winfield-Mount Union/Columbus team that went 5-15 but got all five of their wins in conference play.
