
After six weeks of the entire county being abnormally dry, Washington County is now drought free according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
Henry, Iowa and Louisa counties have also improved to drought-free conditions.
About 10% of Jefferson County and about 6% of Keokuk County remain abnormally dry along their borders with Wapello County, where one of two pockets of moderate drought remain.
Approximately a quarter of Johnson County remains abnormally dry.
Statewide, 88% of Iowa is drought free. Just 2% of the state now remains in a moderate drought.
