The Sigourney Savage softball team finished their season Saturday in the semifinal round of the Class 1A Regional Tournament, dropping a 2-1 decision in Corydon to No. 1 Wayne County. The home team pushed across a pair of runs in the fourth. The Savage response came with a single tally in the top of the fifth. The two teams dialed in their pitching and defense and the score stayed put the rest of the way. The loss eliminates this year’s South Iowa Cedar League Champions and the 2024 1A State Champions with an 18-8 record. Wayne County will play at the State Tournament in Fort Dodge next week. Sigourney says goodbye to three seniors including Josephine Moore, Dani Aller and Addison Richardson.
