Mid-Prairie’s senior pair of Jayse Yoder and Preston Yutzy personify excellence on and off the oval. Recently, the Golden Hawk stars were selected to the Iowa Association of Track Coaches Class 2A Academic All-State team for their work this spring on the track and in the classroom. In order to qualify, a student-athlete must be a senior, maintain a GPA of at least 3.8 and qualify for the State meet in Des Moines.
Yoder and Yutzy were members of a boys team that swept the indoor and outdoor River Valley Conference Team Championships, with Yoder taking the RVC 800 indoors and being a member of the RVC outdoor champion distance medley. The Hawks won the team title at the 2A qualifier in Monticello. Yoder ran at state in the Golden Hawk sprint medley that placed third in 2A and Yutzy was 10th on the blue oval in the two-mile. Mid-Prairie finished ninth in Class 2A with 25 team points.
