While E. Coli levels have dropped over the past two weeks, swimmers are still recommended to avoid swimming in Lake Darling.
A sample was collected on Wednesday, June 25, that showed over a ten-times increase in E. Coli present from the previous week. The 5-week average remains above safe levels, causing the warning to stay in place.
Lake Darling’s beach is one of 14 across the state that the Iowa Department of Natural Resources has recommended swimmers avoid at this time.
