A work session of the downtown streetscape project planning is on the agenda for the Washington City Council this evening. According to a memo from City Administrator Joe Gaa, funds have been set aside for this project, and at one point the goal was to complete all remaining blocks off of the downtown square. After review, this does not fit in with the City’s budget. There will be a discussion of the highest priority sidewalks off of the square, including the west and east sides of the 100 block of Marion Avenue near the post office, the east side of the 100 block of North Iowa Avenue, the north side of the 200 block of West Washington Street, the east side the 200 block of South Marion Avenue, and the east side of the 200 block of South Iowa Avenue. The scope of the work will be discussed.

Also on the agenda is a resolution approving Downtown Investment Grant projects for fiscal year 2026, and adopting the updated personnel manual for the City.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers in City Hall.
