Two were selected for the Iowa State Fair: Joanna Vakulich of the Kalona Klassics and Adelyn Huston of the Limecreek Livewires.

Fair competition kicked off this week with 75 youth participating in the Washington County Fair Communication Event. 

The event was held on Tuesday, at the Washington County Fairgrounds.  4-H’ers gave educational presentations or participated in the extemporaneous speaking division. 

Hannah Rodgers of the Green Acres 4-H Club received the Judge’s Choice Intermediate Senior presenter, and will represent Washington County at the State Fair. 

In the Extemporaneous Speaking category, two were selected for the Iowa State Fair, Joanna Vakulich of the Kalona Klassics and Adelyn Huston of the Limecreek Livewires. This contest is open to 9th-12th grade 4-Hers who draw three current issue topics, select one, write a speech for 30 minutes, and then present their 4-6 minute speech to a judge.
