The Washington Police Department arrested a man on first degree robbery charges on July 4th. 

Around 7 p.m.Friday, a Washington Police Officer reported locating a subject from a theft that had happened earlier in the day. They arrested 42-year-old James Humphrey of Washington. 

According to court documents, at around 5 p.m. Humphrey allegedly brandished a blue pocket knife and demanded the victim to empty their pockets while on the Kewash Trail. The victim did not comply, and Humphrey followed the victim to the Hometown Inn and Suites and stole their bicycle.  

Humphrey was charged with first degree robbery, a Class B felony.  He is currently being held in the Washington County Jail, and a preliminary hearing has been set for July 15th.
