The City of Wellman has announced a new park project and a fundraising effort to facilitate the plans.

According to the plans published by the city, Memorial Park will be located at the corner of Highway 22 and 8th Avenue. The park will honor local veterans and first responders, as well as all members of the U.S. Military.

The estimated cost of the project is $275,950, and the city plans to contribute $125,000. The remaining $150,950 would be funded through donations and the sale of memorial pavers.

Memorial bricks are eight inches wide and four to 12 inches long, with the price varying from $150 to $450 depending on the length.

A form for donations and brick ordering can be found on the city’s website. Those wishing to purchase bricks or donate should complete the form and mail it to the city along with payment. Checks should be made payable to the City of Wellman.
