The Class 1A District baseball tournament live tonight on KCII features a pair of rivals from the listening area when the Highland Huskies host the Hillcrest Academy Ravens. Hillcrest enters play with a 14-7 overall mark, fresh off of a Monday 12-2 playoff win in six innings over HLV. The Ravens were regular season champions of the Southeast Iowa Superconference North Division for the third year in a row with a 10-2 record. This season, the Ravens hit .250 as a team with a .390OBP, .331 slug, 147 runs, 136 hits, 115RBI, 107 walks and 158 strikeouts. Two are at .300 or better, led by Rowan Miller’s .338 average and Mason Helmuth at .318. Miller has team highs with 23RBI and 23 total hits. Mason Bender has scored a team best 20 runs. On the mound, Hillcrest has a staff ERA of 2.86 with a 1.07WHIP, .199 opponent average 97 hits, 54 earned runs, 45 walks and 108 strikeouts. Phoenix Anderson and Seth Ours are a combined 10-1 with a 0.92ERA.

Highland is 12-9 on the year after a 17-2 opening round win over English Valleys on Monday. The Huskies finished second in the Superconference North at 8-4. This year, they hit .259 as a lineup with a .390OBP, .304 slug, 125 runs, 133 hits, 85RBI, 74 walks and 159 strikeouts. Two Huskies are at .300 or better with Landon Roling the leader at .383. Logan McFarland is at .354, both have 23 hits, McFarland has scored 24 runs and Caleb Wheeler and Bryce Hazelett have driven in 15 apiece. On the mound, Highland’s team ERA is 3.91 with a 1.45WHIP, .227 opponent average, 118 hits, 73 earned runs, 72 walks and 105 strikeouts. McFarland, Hazelett and Colten Sypherd are all multi-game winners. These two teams have split their last 18 meetings, but the Ravens have beaten the Huskies twice already this year by a combined 17-6 score.
