The suspect in a shooting in Muscatine on Monday has died.
Ian Antonio Hernandez of Davenport was pronounced dead on Monday at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, according to the Muscatine Police Department.
Hernandez is suspected of shooting Kalista Hallberg of Letts at a Hy-Vee in Muscatine before fleeing the scene. Police found him with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in his vehicle. He was transported to UnityPoint Health-Trinity Hospital in Muscatine and then taken to the University of Iowa Hospital via AirCare.
Muscatine police say that initial investigations suggest that a domestic dispute triggered the incident.
A GoFundMe has been set up for Hallberg’s family, which is 93% of the way to its $9,000 goal as of Wednesday afternoon.
The incident remains under investigation.
