
The Washington Demons split a pair of games on the softball diamond last night at Fort Madison. Washington fell in their first contest 9-6 but responded to win Game Two 9-5. The Demons, ranked ninth in the state in Class 3A, now have a record of 13-1 in the Southeast Conference and 23-8 overall.
Washington baseball would be swept in their doubleheader at Fort Madison. The Demons responded to an early 3-0 deficit in Game One by scoring three runs in the second inning, but the Bloodhounds broke the tie with two runs in the fourth and scored four times in the fifth to seize control on their way to a 10-5 victory.
Washington would trail throughout the course of the second contest, getting a run in the second inning but still falling 11-1 in a game that lasted only five frames. The defeats drop the Demons to 4-17, including a 2-12 mark in conference play.
