
It was a tough weekend on the diamond for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team as they dropped four matches at the Linn-Mar/Alburnett Tournament. The Hawks were beaten by the home No. 2 in Class 5A Lions 11-1, Northeast Goose Lake 15-5, North Linn 9-8 and No. 9 in 2A Lisbon 12-3. Top performers at the plate for the Hawks on the weekend included Sophie Miller with four hits, including a homer, three runs and two driven in. Kyla Karnes also had four hits with a home run and scored three times. It was a four hit weekend for Sophia Puttman with three runs scored. Jersey Jergens finished with three hits, three runs scored and knocked in two. Kadence Grout had three hits, scored twice and drove in one. Isabelle Litwiller added two hits, three RBI and two runs scored. Claire Trimpe had a hit, an RBI and scored three times and Braelee Yoder knocked in a pair on a hit.
Grout and Alena Snider covered all 20 innings in the circle. Snider went 11 frames with 16 hits, 25 earned runs four walks and a strikeout. Grout had nine innings, 20 hits, 19 earned runs, two walks and a strikeout. After the weekend, the Golden Hawks were 6-16 on the year.
