The Washington Demons will look to pick up some conference baseball wins tonight when they go on the road for a doubleheader at Fort Madison that you can hear on KCII.

Washington comes in with a record of 4-15, including a 2-10 mark in the Southeast Conference. Senior Conner Leyden leads the lineup with a .364 batting average, while freshman Mitchell Zieglowsky is also hitting over .300 with a team-high 17 total knocks.

Sophomore Boden Brown has also been a force at the plate for the Demons, batting .288 with a team-best 11 runs batted in. Head coach TJ Rausch tells KCII Sports that his team has shown promise in both hitting and pitching, they just have to execute on a consistent basis.

“Our pitchers are throwing well [and] we found some offense up at Waterloo [last week],” Rausch says, “so hopefully we can keep that going this coming week. Our boys know that we can do it. Now [we’re] just trying to put all seven innings of good baseball together.”

Washignton will be facing a Fort Madison team that is 5-18, but all five wins have come in conference play, including a 6-4 victory in extra innings when the Bloodhounds played the Demons earlier this season.

You can hear both games this evening as Washington Demon baseball on KCII comes your way starting with the Countdown to First Pitch at 5 o’clock on 106.1 FM and streaming on KCIIradio.com and the KCII1 app.
