Newly-crowned Southeast Iowa Superconference North Division Champions Hillcrest Academy (10-2, 11-7) travel to West Burlington for Monday’s edition of the Area Game of the Week as the Ravens take on the Falcons (8-9, 3-8).
Winning a pair of games over the Highland Huskies last week, Hillcrest took the lead in the conference standings and gave itself enough cushion to secure the division title.
The Ravens have won six of their last seven games, the lone loss coming last Thursday to Burlington Notre Dame. Over that stretch, the Ravens have been dominant defensively, collecting five shutouts.
That Raven defense is led on the mound by seniors Seth Ours and Phoenix Anderson. Ours has thrown two no-hitters this season while limiting opponents to a .113 average, while Anderson holds a team-low 0.58 ERA in 20 innings of work.
Hillcrest Head Coach Danny Hershberger described what has allowed Ours to take the next step this season, “He does a great job of pitching to contact, but also when he needs to get a strikeout he’s been excellent at that as well. Our defense does a great job of backing him up.”
Senior Liam Schrock provides most of Hillcrest’s power at the plate, hitting all three of his team’s home runs in 2025. Liam’s younger brother Lawson is the most consistent hitter for the Ravens with a .449 OBP.
Senior Brock Thuleen leads the West Burlington offense with a .500 AVG, .603 OBP, and a 0.714 SLG, all team highs. Junior Caleb Bush is the Falcons’ ace on the bump, throwing a 4.60 ERA and a 1.66 WHIP.
The sides are 4-4 in their annual matchups against each other since 2016, with Hillcrest winning the last two games in 2023 and 2024.
