A preliminary hearing is scheduled for this week for a Columbus Junction man charged with felony abuse of a corpse. Thursday at 9 a.m. a preliminary hearing will be held at the Louisa County Courthouse for 58-year old Salvador Castaneda. 

According to court records, on Wednesday authorities were called to the scene of a van in a ditch along a gravel road. It was then discovered that a body was in the opposite ditch with a cord wrapped around it. 

The deceased victim was identified as 58-year old Noe Ibarra-Tijerina. It’s alleged that his body had been drug down gravel as evident by the extensive injuries. 

Bond for Castaneda has been set at $25,000.
