
Nearly all of Iowa’s corn crop has emerged and there are scattered reports of silking in the last week according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Currently, corn condition is rated at 21-percent excellent, 62-percent good, 14-percent fair, and 3-percent poor to very poor. Soybeans are in similar condition at 17-percent excellent, 61-percent good, 19-percent fair, and 4-percent poor to very poor.
In southeast Iowa, 15-percent of soybeans are blooming, more than double the five-year average’s rate for this point on the calendar.
