Winfield-Mount Union/Columbus baseball rolled to an impressive 12-0 victory last night at Wapello. Four runs in each of the first two innings put the Wolves in front, and they would score three times in the fourth frame on their way to ending the game early.

Riley Kaalberg blasted his third home run of the year for WMU/Columbus and had three runs batted in and two runs scored on a game-high three hits. Fellow senior Lane Genkinger added two RBI and scored twice on two base hits, while senior Kohlby Newsom cranked a double and joined junior Kason Dopler in having two runs scored.

Junior Gavin Prior picked up a pair of RBI on one single and joined Kaalberg in also collecting two stolen bases, while Dopler dominated on the mound by pitching the first four innings and striking out eight batters while allowing just one hit.

The win helps the Wolves improve to 4-5 in the North division of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference and 4-10 overall ahead of traveling to face Hillcrest Academy this evening.
