Two people involved in a shooting near Williamsburg over the weekend were from Michigan. According to the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office, the people involved in the incident were 56-year old David Robert Morse and 52-year old Tara Elinor Morse. The married couple were from Holt, Michigan.

Authorities stated that Tara Morse had serious gunshot injuries and was taken to an area hospital. David Morse was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound. An autopsy is scheduled for later this week at the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

At around 9 p.m. on Friday, June 20, the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a shooting on the I-80 ramp into Williamsburg. The incident remains under investigation.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Williamsburg Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, and the State Medical Examiner assisted with the investigation.
