The win streak continued for Lone Tree Lion softball last night by sweeping a doubleheader against the WACO Warriors. Lone Tree won Game One 22-4, scoring 10 runs in the first inning and seven more in the second on their way to ending the game after four frames.

Vivian Zaruba cranked a double for the Lion lineup and had two hits, four runs scored and four runs batted in. Fellow senior Kayleigh Rundlett scored twice and also had four RBI on two hits, while senior Cate Sexton bashed a home run on her way to three runs driven in on two hits and two runs scored.

Senior Alex Dautremont also finished with two hits, two runs and three RBI for Lone Tree, while sophomore Addison McCullough came across to score four times and senior Sami Branson needed only one hit to bat in three runs.

The Lions would build a 5-1 lead after two innings in Game Two, but they seized control by scoring seven times in the third frame of a 12-1 victory. Zaruba had two more hits and scored twice, while Daturemont clubbed a triple and Sexton and sophomore Macie Wageman also scored two runs each.

Dautremont added four innings pitched and just two hits and three walks allowed, racking up six strikeouts as well to help the Lions win a sixth straight contest and raise their record to 7-4 in the North division of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference and 12-6 overall.

Meanwhile, WACO is still winless this season. While the Warriors next play tomorrow against the Highland Huskies, Lone Tree is right back at it tonight and hosting Highland.
