After taking game one of the season series by a 2-0 final score earlier in the month, the Highland Huskie baseball team will be looking to capture the season sweep over their biggest rival, the Lone Tree Lions, tonight in a game you can hear on the KCII3 Stream.

Lone Tree will look to defend their home turf and enter play this evening at 6-8 overall after going 3-0 last week with wins over Danville, Pekin and Wapello. This season, the Lions have scored 70 runs on the same number of hits, averaging .219 as a squad, a SEISC-North best .408 OBP and .266 slug. Brock Nebergall leads the team with a .425 average on 17 hits, all singles, a .558 OBP and .425 slug. On the mound, Lone Tree has faced 474 opponent at bats, allowing 113 runs, 78 earned, on 108 hits, 69 walks to 80 punchouts, a .228 opponent average, 6.42 ERA and 2.08 WHIP. The leader in the pen is Jack Patterson with 34 Ks, a 1.14 ERA and 0.89 WHIP.

Highland fell victim to Hillcrest last night 9-0 for their first conference loss to drop them to 8-5 overall. The Huskies are on a three-game losing streak that dates back to last Monday. This year, the Huskies hit .259 as a team with a .392 OBP and .311 slug. They have scored 70 runs on 76 hits with 44 batted in. Senior Colten Sypherd leads the team with a .529 batting average in 17 at bats, while fellow senior Logan McFarland has plated the most runs for Highland with 15 total. On the bump, the Huskies have allowed 70 runs, 49 earned, on 68 hits, 41 walks to 57 strikeouts, a .228 opponent average, 4.51 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP. McFarland has pitched the most innings at 17 and has the best current WHIP at 0.65.

In the Varsity Bound era, Highland leads the all-time series with Lone Tree 23-13 dating back to 2009, and have won 12 of the last 13 matchups.
