Temperatures climbed into the 90s in the KCII-listening area with heat index values elevating conditions further over the last few days. According to the National Weather Service, on Sunday temperatures reached a high of 92 degrees in Washington and stayed there for four hours.
The National Weather Service states the heat and humidity may linger in the area through Wednesday with chances of thunderstorms. In hot conditions, people are reminded to drink plenty of water, stay in air conditioned areas if possible, limit strenuous outdoor activities, and never leave people or pets in a closed car.
