The National Association of County Engineers Executive Director Kevan Stone visited the Washington County Board of Supervisors at their meeting last week. Stone is based out of Washington, DC, and is responsible for all oversight and management of the association.

Stone had this statement for the Supervisors, “I wanted to make the trip out here to sort of retroactively and proactively thank all of you. It is no secret that Jacob (Thorius) has been a very active person in the Iowa Association of County Engineers, and now the National Association of County Engineers, for many, many years. And sometimes that requires his time to be taken out of Washington County, and be representing either the State of Iowa in his previous post or the National organization over the past few years.”

Currently, Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius serves as the President of the National Association of County Engineers, and his term will last until April of 2026. NACE is a nonprofit, nonpartisan professional association in its 69th year, representing over 3,000 county road officials and related professionals in the U.S. and Canada.
