The KCII Area Game of the Week returns to Riverside as the Highland Huskies (6-6, 4-3) host the Hillcrest Academy Ravens (9-9, 5-7) on the KCII3 stream Monday night.
Highland is coming off a victory in Friday’s edition of the Area Game of the Week, holding on for a 5-3 victory over Columbus. Hillcrest most recently defeated the winless WACO Warriors, also on Friday.
Both teams have collected three straight victories in Southeast Iowa Superconference – North Division play, each squad also taking wins off of Wapello and Pekin during their win streaks.
Hillcrest is led in the batters’ box by senior Delaney Shaw, who has knocked in 20 RBIs and scored 19 runs with a .486 average, .571 OBP, and 0.543 SLG.
The Ravens’ ace pitcher is senior Malia Yoder, who owns a 4.87 ERA and a 1.97 WHIP. Her defense has struggled behind her throughout the season, surrendering 54 unearned runs to Yoder’s 58 earned runs.
For the Huskies, a young pitching staff is led by the two-headed monster of eighth grader Jillian Stransky, who holds a 2.55 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP, and freshman Larissa Murphy, who has tossed her way to a 4.74 ERA and a 1.65 WHIP.
At the plate, freshman Kamryn Fink and senior Lilly Barre have been the most prolific batswomen for Highland. Fink has scored 15 runs on a .486/.571/.543 slashline, while Barre holds two of only three home runs for the Huskies and leads the team with 11 RBIs.
Highland owns a 34-1 edge since 2008 in the series, with the Ravens’ only win coming in 2011.
