The PAWS & More Animal Shelter took another step forward with their new shelter construction project.

This week the Washington City Council approved the site plan that was presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission on June 10th.
The building will be located directly in front of the wastewater treatment plant in the Southwest Business Park. The site will feature walking paths, all-season gathering places, and inclusive spaces for everyone to interact with the animals. This new building will be double the size of the current shelter.

So far, $4,222,000 has been raised for their capital campaign to fund the project, including a $2.4 million grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation. The total cost of the project will be $5.2 million.
